Tuesday, July 1st, 2014Updating the Website!

It's hard to believe that over a year has gone by and no news here! Actually, quite a bit is going on and without any help to do things like maintaining all my social media - I've fallen behind with letting everyone know what's up....but at least my calendar is up to date!

Check back periodically or find me on Facebook - either "Gee Rabe" or "L.A.'s Accordion Diva, Gee Rabe" - but hurry! My personal page has over 4,500 friends!

Hope to see you at a show soon!

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013BUSY!

That's no April Fool's joke! Tons of playing, teaching, recording....and I haven't updated my tour page in a long time, yet I've had a ton of work - including playing with the Lisa Haley & the Zydekats, a recording session for the new Monsters, Inc. movie (Randy Newman did the score!)...and playing in L.A.'s newest Brazilian forro band, Mofo. (I now need a keyboard so I can write in Portuguese properly - as soon as I can learn the language a bit more.) So BUSY times but quite happy to working.

Join my L.A.'s Accordion Diva, "Gee" Rabe FACEBOOK page! Or my personal page: www.facebook.com/geerabe if you want some personal interaction.

Wednesday, December 26th, 2012Gigi & Her Atomic Hipsters

Check it out! My newest group, my Atomic Hipsers (or Gigi & Her Atomic Hipsters, to be exact) has a new website!

www.atomichipsters.com

Now with some time off from school maybe I'll actually get all these sites updated. Stay tuned!!!!

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012UPDATED MUSIC!

I've been busy working with Lisa Haley and the Zydekats while also working on my new project, Gigi and Her Atomic Hipsters but FINALLY have added more music from various CDs I've worked on. Please check out the songs and if you like any of them, consider buying the CD(s) and support musicians! These include the Zydekats, of course, but also music by The Vignatis, Peter Copeland, James Kahn, Lucky Diaz & the Family Jam Band, and Jessica Fichot - in no particular order! Comments are always appreciated - thanks!

Monday, March 19th, 2012New Music Clips in Progress....

I haven't had the site updated since....last August??? That's terrible!

I've been super busy performing with Lisa Haley & the Zydekats and recording with many people....aside from teaching at the university....I'm SWAMPED!

I should have at least updated the website on March 8 but have been overwhelmed with work. Finally tonight - today I thought I'd add a few more music examples of projects I've worked on. Please check out the links for the projects I've worked on and buy their CDs! Or just become a new fan....

Enjoy the additional clips (more to follow) & let me know how you like them....

Friday, August 12th, 2011Lisa Haley & the Zydekats Summer 2011 Tour

I am finally back in town after a fun tour this summer with Lisa Haley & the Zydekats. Apparently I must have been running on adrenalin over the past few weeks because now that I am home I am feeling quite jet-lagged! A few more weeks to rest and then the semester at CSUN starts - what fun!

I am currently working on getting videos and photos of the tour up on YouTube, Facebook, and perhaps on this website as well. You can find me on Facebook or do a web search for the band.

If I remember correctly, the tour went like this:

Sacramento, CA
Rapperswil & Zofingen, Switzerland
Sarawak, Malaysia
Mammoth Lakes, CA
Toronto, Canada
Crappone-sur-Arzon, France
Telluride, Colorado

We will be playing locally for the rest of the year except for a trip to Northern California and Bakersfield....

Hope to see you at a show sometime!

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011More Dates Added!

It's been a hectic few months since dealing with illness and loss....but now that the semester is over at the university, I am now swamped with performances, primarily short tours with Lisa Haley & the Zydekats. Take a look at the updated calendar and please try to come to some of the public events - say hello! Tell your friends to come by as well or drop me a note here on the website.

Tuesday, March 8th, 201136 Years of Accordion Playing

36 years ago today I had my first private accordion lesson with Corry (Reysbergen) Smith at Stead's Music Center in Bellflower, CA. Usually I like to celebrate this event because back then I had no idea I would have a career that centered on the accordion. Sadly, however, I am still dealing with the loss of my puppydog, Raindrop, so it is rather difficult to be celebratory about anything. In the meantime, I am thinking about how I might be able to remember my puppydog through my work in music....suggestions are always welcomed....

Saturday, March 5th, 2011Rest in Peace, Raindrop

This has been an awful week. First, my wonderful other half, Peter, ended up in the hospital with pneumonia (I'm typing this from the hospital), then yesterday I got word from my friend Craig that our dog Raindrop was very ill. Although she was rushed to her vet, she passed away. I did not get to say goodbye. She did leave her dad Craig a torn up lip that required stitches. But none of us had a chance to say goodbye; her vet was the last person she saw.

As you can imagine, everyone has been distraught over all these traumatic events and I apologize that I have had to cancel some of my performance dates from this past week, as well as the upcoming week. I hope it's true that time heals because unexpectedly losing my puppydog is just so painful that I do not know how I can perform. Somehow I will get through all of this and I appreciate everyone's support during this tough time. Take care and stay well!

RIP Raindrop

Friday, February 25th, 2011More Zydekats Dates Added!

Festival dates are slowly being confirmed - I will be playing with the Zydekats all over California and out of state too - check to see if I'll be visiting your city and say hello!

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011Material Added to the Website!

Finally, more photos and audio tracks have been added! Stay tuned for video clips.

I have been working quite a bit since the last (and first) news item and figured it was time to continue the construction of the website. There have been some comments and e-mails that I recently found - thanks for your messages - I will be in touch with everyone.

Check the "tour" section often - dates are added on a daily basis!

Enjoy!
